Alumni in Action for Resilient Communities: Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Response

February 19-23, 2018
Exchange alumni from 15 countries in the Caribbean and Puerto Rico gathered in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago to discuss how to build resilient communities in the wake of natural disasters. During the seminar, participants discussed several interrelated topics, such as emergency response, energy infrastructure, waste management, the tourism industry, financial management of aid, water management, and inclusive recovery; seeking to pinpoint elements in each of these areas where preparedness, response, and risk mitigation could be improved.
